Accessibility Statement

We work towards conformity with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 Level AA.

Addressing Domestic Abuse (ADA) is committed to making our website accessible and usable for as many people as possible. We aim to ensure that users can access content and services regardless of disability, assistive technology, or method of access (e.g., keyboard, screen reader, voice input, etc.).

Compliance status

The Addressing Domestic Abuse website is currently (as at the 3rd of January 2026) partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA due to the non-compliances and/or exceptions listed below. (This “partially compliant” format follows established accessibility statement practice and UK government guidance models.)

How we tested this website

A review of the website was carried out on 2 January 2026. The review included inspection of the live page content and structure (including headings, link text, and the presence/absence of text alternatives for images). Further testing (including keyboard-only navigation and screen-reader testing) is planned as part of ongoing improvement work.

Non-accessible content

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  1. Images and non-text content
  • Some images may not have meaningful text alternatives.
  • This can affect users of screen readers and other assistive technologies – this relates to WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content.
  1. Link text
  • Some links use generic text such as “Click for More”, which may not clearly describe the destination or purpose – this relates to WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context).
  1. Icon-only links
  • Some social media links may not be announced clearly by assistive technologies if they do not include accessible labels.
  1. Page structure and navigation
  • Some pages may not use a consistent heading hierarchy, which can make navigation harder for screen-reader users.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are actively working to improve accessibility across our website. Our immediate priorities are to:

  • Add and standardise meaningful alt text for informative images and ensure decorative images are correctly marked as decorative.
  • Replace generic link text (e.g., “Click for More”) with descriptive link labels.
  • Ensure icon-only links (e.g., social media icons) have appropriate accessible names.
  • Improve heading hierarchy to provide a clear page outline.

Feedback and contact information

If you find any accessibility problems not listed on this page, or if you need information in an alternative format (e.g., accessible PDF, large print, easy read, or audio), please contact us via the website Contact page and state that your enquiry is about website accessibility.

We aim to respond within 5 working days.

Legal context

All service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments under the UK Equality Act (2010) to avoid placing disabled people at a substantial disadvantage when accessing services.
